FAQ
Honest answers for beta users.
Bandit DarkRoom is presented as a serious desktop editing beta, not a finished commercial suite. These answers keep expectations clear.
Is Bandit DarkRoom free?
The current website presents Bandit DarkRoom as a beta. Pricing, license terms, and long-term availability can be updated when the project is ready for a public release decision.
Is it finished?
No. Bandit DarkRoom is currently in beta. Features, layout, file handling, sidecar behavior, and export workflow may change as testing continues.
What platforms does it support?
The current download page is written for a Windows desktop beta. Add macOS or Linux details only when those builds are actually available.
Does it edit RAW files?
Bandit DarkRoom is designed around RAW photo development and image-editing workflow. Camera and file support should be verified with your own files during beta testing.
Where are edits saved?
The workflow is designed around sidecar-based project data so edit information can live beside the local editing workflow while original images remain separate.
How do I report beta feedback?
Use the beta signup form to prepare a message from your own email app. Include your version, operating system, file type, steps taken, expected result, and actual result.
Is this a cloud app?
No. Bandit DarkRoom is described as a local-first desktop workflow, not a cloud editing service.
Does the beta form send data automatically?
No. The form builds a mailto link and opens your email app. You review the message and send it yourself.
What should I test first?
Start with a small folder of backup images. Test opening files, adjustments, before/after comparison, sidecar save/reload, export current, and export history.
